Welcome

SLO Quilters Logo

SLO Quilters is a non-profit, educational corporation whose mission is to promote quilting through education and fellowship. We first organized in 1981 making this our 30th anniversary.

Over the years we have grown to more than 200 members. Explore our site and come to one of our meetings. We would love to have you join the SLO Quilters.

Letter From Our President

Welcome to SLO Quilters, Inc.!

As a member of our guild, you can chose to participate in one or as many of our activities as your time will allow, but we DO hope you will get involved.

We also hope you will expand your quilting skills and abilities, try new things, be inspired by the work of our members, contribute to our community and form new friendships. As is true of most organizations, the more involved you are, the more you will get out of it (and the more fun you will have!).

SLO Quilters members include a wide range of ages and quilting skill levels. Our monthly meetings are geared to be informative, encouraging and inspiring as well as an opportunity to see friends and socialize.

SLO Quilters offers many opportunities to expand your quilting skills:

  • Block-a-Month (our newsletter provides instructions for a different block pattern each month)
  • Check out instructional books from our quilting library of books and DVD's
  • Attend seminars and workshops to learn a particular skill or technique
  • Join a quilting friendship group
  • Travel to quilt shows (check the bulletin board at monthly meetings for current events)
  • Participate in guild quilt shows and challenges

Guild members also create and donate quilts through our Community Quilts program (kits of fabric and batting may be provided):

  • S.A.R.T. (for the children inspected by the SLO County Suspected Abuse Response Team)
  • Chemo Cozies (for children going through cancer treatment)
  • T.A.P.P. (quilts for babies through the Teen Pregnancy and Parenting Program)
  • Quilts of Valor (for our wounded servicemen and women)

To encourage you to get to know other members, all members who wear a nametag (optional pattern included with this welcome kit) to the meeting are eligible to win a door prize from our local quilt stores (Most of them also offer a discount to guild members, so be sure to carry your membership card). We also have a Facebook page, so become a "friend!"

Happy Quilting!
