Welcome
to our Home Page!
SLO
Quilters is a non-profit, educational corporation whose
mission is to promote quilting through education and fellowship.
We first organized in 1981 and now have more than 200 members.
We
meet at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the
Congregational United Church of Christ, located at 11245
Los Osos Valley Road (adjacent to the Laguna Lake Golf
Course) in San Luis Obispo, California. Visitors are welcome
at our
meetings.
Meetings
usually consist of a program -- often a lecture, demonstration,
or slide show -- and the popular regular features of block-a-month
and show-and-tell.
SLO
Quilters has a monthly newsletter, Quiltspeak,
to inform members about our meetings and other items of
interest to quilters.
The
guild has a library of quilting books that members may
check out to enjoy at home. Additionally, members can order
books for themselves at reduced group rates.
We
work together to present Quilt Festival, a major quilt
show with vendors, an opportunity quilt and a fashion show,
in odd-numbered years. In even-numbered years, we hold
a quilt auction. Between shows we bring well-known quiltmakers
to San Luis Obispo to lecture and teach workshops. All
these events are open to the public.
Through
our Community Quilts program, members make and donate cuddle
quilts for needy, abused and ill children.
We
invite you to join us! Membership is open to all who pay
the $20.00 annual dues. Send check to SLO Quilters, P.O.
Box 14306, San Luis Obispo, CA 93406, or stop by our meetings.
